S ave the Kids was founded by Noah Seth Reiss and Dee Champagne, inspired by a deeply rooted family tradition of giving back. As children, Daniel and Dee were profoundly moved by their grandparents’ visits to local orphanages. They were heartbroken to discover that many of the children they met were deprived of education and healthcare, trapping them in a cycle of poverty.
Determined to make a difference, Dee held a garage sale, selling all of his toys to raise funds for the orphans. With the money raised, they established a small library and provided essential supplies for the children. This initial success sparked a larger mission that grew into a global movement.
Through fundraisers, grants, and community involvement, Save the Kids expanded its reach to support schools and orphanages in India, Gaza, Congo, Ukraine, the United States, and Latin America. A chapter was later established at Penn State University, extending the organization’s impact to Haiti and Uganda.
Today, Save the Kids leads numerous initiatives, including health clinics, libraries, workshops for young women, and educational trips. Each project is rooted in the belief that every child deserves the opportunity to escape poverty through access to education and healthcare.
Our Mission
We believe every child deserves a future. Around the world, too many children face life-threatening challenges simply because of who they are and where they come from. Millions are caught in the crossfire of war, trapped in poverty, and denied the basic rights of education and protection.
At Save the Kids, we champion the rights and interests of children worldwide, prioritizing the most vulnerable. With a dedicated team of 25,000 staff across different countries, we respond to major emergencies, deliver innovative development programs, and ensure children's voices are heard. Our ambition for 2030 is clear:
- Survive: No child dies from preventable causes before their fifth birthday.
- Learn: All children receive a quality basic education.
- Be Protected: Violence against children is no longer tolerated.
Building on 100 years of collective experience, we bring together communities, civil society, governments, businesses, and donors to create lasting change for children. Our work is driven by our core values: Accountability, Ambition, Collaboration, Creativity, and Integrity.
